INRO and ESRI Canada Ink Agreement to Add ESRI ArcGIS Engine Runtime to INRO Transportation Planning Solutions

MONTREAL and TORONTO – March 25, 2010 – INRO and ESRI Canada today announced an OEM agreement to embed ESRI’s ArcGIS Engine Runtime into INRO’s Emme® travel demand forecasting and Dynameq® dynamic traffic assignment applications and distribute the bundled software worldwide.  The new agreement builds on the companies’ 12-year partnership and provides a solution that allows transportation planners access to geographic information system (GIS) data and maps with ArcGIS technology directly from INRO software, without separate ESRI licensing requirements.

Emme 3.3, available now, and Dynameq 1.5, available soon, are the first versions of INRO software to embed ArcGIS Engine Runtime.  ArcGIS map layers appear alongside native Emme and Dynameq map layers, providing transportation planners with rich visual context to support visualization, network editing, analysis and report generation.

"In combining our technologies, users can now access ArcGIS-supported geospatial data and view them within the Emme and Dynameq products,” said Michael Florian, President, INRO.  “This allows us to provide our users with a wider range of capabilities out of the box.”

“INRO has a proven track record in bringing leading-edge solutions to the transportation planning field,” said Alex Miller, President, ESRI Canada.  “We are proud to expand our partnership with INRO through this OEM agreement and provide Emme and Dynameq users worldwide with the important benefits of GIS technology.”

ESRI’s ArcGIS Engine provides GIS components for developers to rapidly build custom mapping applications. The software allows developers to embed GIS functions into existing applications, as well as build new applications that deliver advanced GIS capabilities to many users.  ArcGIS Engine consists of a software developer kit and the ArcGIS Engine Runtime extension, which provides the platform to run the end user application.
