Bentley Systems CEO Greg Bentley to Share Success Story with Science Center Entrepreneurs

PHILADELPHIA — (BUSINESS WIRE) — March 22, 2010 — Greg Bentley, CEO of Bentley Systems, will share his company’s experiences taking Bentley Systems from a University City startup to a global software company as he kicks off the University City Science Center’s 2010 Smart Talk: Adventures in Entrepreneurialism series, Wednesday, April 7 at the Science Center’s offices at 3711 Market Street in Philadelphia.

Before they had offices in more than 45 countries and annual revenues surpassing $500 million, Bentley Systems was a startup company in the University City Science Center incubator. Bentley Systems set up shop at the Science Center with two employees in 1986. Today, the Exton, Pa.-based company employs more than 2,700 people. Greg Bentley will share the company’s experiences both at the Science Center and beyond in establishing Bentley Systems as the leading provider of software for the design, engineering, construction and operations of the world's infrastructure.

“We look forward to welcoming Greg back to the place where Bentley Systems got its start,” says Science Center President and CEO Stephen S. Tang, Ph.D. “Not only does Greg play a major role in the region’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, but he represents one of the Science Center’s key success stories. We’re sure that the current residents of our Port business incubators will be able to relate to -- and learn from -- Greg’s experiences.”

Smart Talk is a quarterly program at the Science Center which gives startup and growing companies a look at best practices and business strategies from industry leaders in the region. 2010 marks the launch of the Adventures in Entrepreneurialism format. Bentley’s remarks will be followed by a panel discussion later this spring focusing on managing growth for emerging companies.

The Smart Talk program will take place 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. at the Science Center’s offices at 3711 Market Street, Suite 800. The program is free. Space is limited and advance registration is required. Online registration is available at: https://secure.basecampbusiness.com/node/11666/register.
