Contineo (Latin for "grasp") is focused on applying advanced dexterous manipulation and control system technologies, inspired by the dual use potential of the DARPA prosthetics initiative and motivated by the desire to prevent unnecessary injuries, to mobile robotics platforms. The Company seeks to prevent bomb blast injuries, which often result in limb loss or blindness, through use of a range of advanced anthropomorphic manipulators and control systems that afford improved user safety during first responder missions or handling of hazardous materials.
Contineo's Chief Science Officer Stuart Harshbarger commented, "We are very pleased to be developing advanced technology solutions that improve the effectiveness of mobile robotics. By enhancing military and homeland security robotic platforms, we hope to reduce injuries to first responders and military personnel who are operating in hazardous environments."
Contineo Robotics will be demonstrating its highly-dexterous robotics technologies at the National Defense Industry Association's 2010 Ground Robotics Capabilities Conference and Exhibition. This Conference will be held in Miami at the Doral Golf Resort on March 16-18, 2010.
