Everybody wants motion control
COPENHAGEN, March 12 — (PRNewswire) — Reading about Sony Playstation's announcement at the Game Developers Conference on Cnet, I can't help shaking my head at the amount of wasted time and money, and how it could all be so much more simple!"Sony on Wednesday unveiled Move, its motion-sensitive controller."
Let me explain – to the everyday consumer the history reads like this:
- 2006 Nintendo bring out the Wii, becoming the "first" console with the "nun-chucks" and "motion controls"
- It is the cheap, looks good and most importantly it works very well
- Faced with spending more on an Xbox/PS3, consumers make the obvious choice
- Sony and Xbox spend the next 3/4 years talking about their own motion control plans
The problem for Playstation is that the "Move" controller looks like a Wii controller (apart from the ice cream ball on top). Cue the collective shrug from the majority of the mainstream gamers.
Their piece de resistance?!? It's more accurate than anything else out there! Wow!! But is that still the case when the second generation of Wii arrives? And the real question is; what if Microsoft sneaks up with Project Natale??
