To be Used in Design Complex SoCs for Multimedia, Communications, Navigation Applications
SAN JOSE, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — February 2, 2010 — EVE, the leader in hardware/software co-verification, today announced that the IC&System Research Center at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) of China has purchased its ZeBu emulation platform through the EVE university program known as unEVErsity Connections Program.
As the leading university in microelectronics in Shanghai, SJTU has been at the forefront of educating technical experts in the area of microelectronics. The IC&System Research Center of SJTU is dedicated to system-on-chip (SoC) Design and research and development for multimedia processing, communication and navigation technologies. It cooperates with industries and works with the government of China to develop SoC designs compliant with the national standard. It also provides design services to electronic companies in need of embedded intellectual property (IP), high-speed emulation and simulation expertise.
EVE’s ZeBu (for zero bugs) emulation platform was selected because many of the design projects require hardware/software co-verification and system validation, and existing solutions were deemed inadequate. IC&System Research Center engineers needed a more accurate and significantly faster emulation solution to address their needs. ZeBu’s capabilities, including user friendliness, fast debug and emulation setup and support for software development, were cited as reasons for selecting the tool. Since deploying ZeBu, IC&System Research Center has reported design productivity improvements.
“EVE’s university program has provided us with a useful solution that is proving to be invaluable to our engineers,” remarks Dr. Liu Pei-Lin, professor of electrical engineering and computer science at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
Adds Chris Yang, EVE sales manager of Greater China: “Shanghai Jiao Tong University’s IC&System Research Center is an impressive organization. In the last several years, several hundred software, hardware and systems engineers have designed complex SoCs for multimedia and communication applications. We welcome the opportunity to work with this group of extraordinary individuals.”
The unEVErsity Connections Program was created to supply universities with first-rate technology to bridge the integration of hardware and software for SoC design. It connects EVE with universities worldwide by providing access to its advanced verification technologies and methodologies, and enables students to gain valuable experience with best-in-class hardware-assisted verification solutions and to better prepare them for real-world situations.
