January 26, 2010 -- St. Charles, IL – Brown County has joined the growing list of Illinois counties who have selected The Sidwell Company to provide E9-1-1 mapping, consulting, and software services. As part of this project, Sidwell will create the base map that includes a Road Centerline layer, an Address Point layer, and Postal Zone layer, and an Emergency Service Zone layer, which will be used to help coordinate emergency response and dispatch based on proximity to an incoming emergency call. The County will also receive Sidwell’s Parcel Builder-AddressManager® tools. These ArcGIS 9.3 compliant tools will allow the County to maintain road centerline attributes, create address points, and automatically assign addresses, as well as generate addressing reports for other uses.

This project is the continuation of a successful working relationship forged between Brown County and Sidwell. Under a previous agreement, Sidwell provided GIS data services to Brown County that included parcel development and aerial imagery for the entire County. That parcel data and aerial imagery will play an integral part in this new project, and will be used in part to help identify structures in the unincorporated areas of Brown County and collect corresponding address points. The resulting base map and related data layers will meet all Brown County’s needs and requirements, and provide them with the tools necessary to help ensure the safety and security of all residents of the County.
