Teamcenter for Simulation Dominates Comprehensive Vendor Evaluation by Industry Analyst Firm CPDA with Unsurpassed Scores in 24 of 27 Subcategories
PLANO, Texas — (BUSINESS WIRE) — January 25, 2010 — Siemens PLM Software, a business unit of the Siemens Industry Automation Division and a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced that the Simulation Process Management offering in its Teamcenter® software portfolio outperformed all of its competitors in every major category of an independent evaluation conducted by the Design/Simulation Council of industry analyst firm Collaborative Product Development Associates (CPDA).
The results were announced last week and published in a CPDA report titled, Simulation Data & Process Management – Vendor Scorecard. The report details the evaluation of five leading suppliers of software in this category, and was conducted using 60 criteria in four main categories. These categories were further subdivided into a total of 27 subcategories in which each vendor was given a score of zero to five, with five being the highest possible score. Teamcenter outperformed the competition throughout the report with a series of dominating statistics.
- Teamcenter outscored all other vendors in all four main categories
- No other solution scored higher than Teamcenter in 24 of 27 subcategories
- Teamcenter scored a perfect “five” in 21 of 27 subcategories
- Teamcenter achieved a score of four or higher in 26 of 27 subcategories
According to the independent CPDA report, “The natural integration of the SDPM layer in the overall PLM framework (of Teamcenter) provides additional benefits for the sophisticated user willing to work with the full capabilities of PLM concepts. Linking together requirements management, system engineering, product design, simulation, manufacturing, and support represents the core capabilities targeted by Teamcenter. Teamcenter for Simulation perfectly covers analysts’ needs in that environment.”
In addition to Siemens PLM Software, CPDA’s evaluation also covered four other vendors – ANSYS, Dassault Systemes/SIMULIA, MSC.Software and Altair. Each vendor demonstrated its solutions in live sessions with intense discussion with the exception of Altair, whose new offerings will be delivered starting at the end of 2009.
“We are very pleased with the results of this independent industry study which serves to validate the strategy we set in place when we created the Teamcenter Simulation Process Management solution,” said Jim Rusk, vice president, Digital Simulation Solutions, Siemens PLM Software. “We recognized early on that computer-aided engineering (CAE) analysis and simulation was not just a critical part of product design, but also an integral part of the entire product lifecycle process. That seamless integration between PLM and simulation is an important part of our strategy and a major factor in how we performed in this evaluation.”
