January 12, 2010 -- The GeoInformation® Group today announces the first data consultants to successfully complete the UKMap® accreditation programme and gain UKMap Accredited Consultant status.
The two-day training programme, created and delivered by Training4GIS (training and consultancy division of The GeoInformation Group), is designed to help those who want to gain and demonstrate a thorough working knowledge of UKMap.
Since it’s inception last autumn, individuals from the following organisations have been awarded UKMap Accredited Consultant status: centremapslive.com, ESRI (UK), Geospatial Intelligence (GSI), MapMechanics, Sigma Seven, Cadcorp, Stanfords Business Mapping and GroundSure.
The UKMap accreditation programme offers a comprehensive learning path that takes full advantage of the information that UKMap offers ranging from an in-depth explanation of the data structure to its appropriate use and application.
Course topics covered include:
- Explanation of integrated layers of UKMap
- Attribution structure and formatting, including addressing
- Database compilation
- 2D and 3D data visualisation
- Building complex queries
- Data supply formats
After successful completion of this course the individuals are awarded Accredited Consultant status for the duration of one year. To maintain this status, individuals are obliged to update their knowledge by attending a renewal course. Accredited Consultants receive; product support from the UKMap team, demonstration data for the duration of their accredited period and use of a UKMap Accredited Consultant logo in their customer communications.
Andy Terry of centremapslive.com remarks, “The accredited status is a reflection of our commitment to our customers to fully understand the product we are selling. As a result of the course I believe that accreditation demonstrates that we can help provide data in the best formats, understand how a user might make use of the UKMap data pack and how we can ensure their uptake is a simple and straightforward process”.
