Following the blockbuster success of the 3D film "Avatar," many believe 3D is poised to take over the home market as well as the cinema. But the adoption of 3D in the home may require convincing viewers it can be as enjoyable as inside the movie theater. Programming on these new channels will require special glasses to achieve the desired 3D effect.
"Consumers seem quite willing to put on glasses in a movie theater but it remains to be seen if they will wear glasses at home or in other settings," said Mr. Thornton. "Provision's 3D holographic display systems project full color, high resolution videos into space detached from the screen, without any special glasses."
The Company's 3DEO Kiosks, currently being deployed in retail locations outside the home, use patented 3D holographic video to draw consumer attention to featured products and are able to dispense related coupons and in-store promotions. 3DEO offers a compelling and relatively inexpensive vehicle to promote 3D movies and TV to consumers without the use of glasses.
"Provision's technology can project images up to three feet in front of a screen," said Mr. Thornton. "The 3D technology is comparable to the 3D imaging seen in 'Star Wars,' 'Minority Report,' and many other science fiction movies."
