December 14, 2009 — GEOMAP GIS America just announced the details surrounding the latest version of it’s GoMap solution version 2.0. GoMap allows organization to efficiently and easily manage and deploy web mapping sites based on MapGuide Open Source or MapGuide Enterprise. The technology as recently been adopted by large organizations such as
Canadien National (CN),
Environment Canada, the
Ministère des Affaires Municipales, des Régions et de l’Occupation du Territoire (MAMROT) and multiple other customers to manage their web mapping sites containing more and more data and maps in order to manage them more efficiently.
The GoMap technology helps administrators to easily manage security linked to users, information layers, maps and attributes through a web console. You can deploy a multitude of modules useful to your organization (maps on demand, layers on demand, pre-defined queries, user definable simple and complex queries, SOLAP functionality, searches, etc.) in a secure web environment. Recently, GEOMAP made public the details around the new functionality available in GoMap. Here is a description of some of these functionnalities : The printing tools have been improved to provide better output quality available in different formats such as PDF and images. Bookmarking and sharable session tools have also been added to this version. The querying of data as also been enhanced with simplified searches, an info tool to view attribute information on any entity and the possibility to apply spatial filters. Furthermore, improved measuring tools have been added to measure distances and areas. GoMap combines different Open Source technologies such as MapGuide, FDO, OpenLayers and Fusion. These technologies have also been updated and offer rich API allowing users to enhance the functionality of their web mapping application.
