The Canadian Institute of Geomatics Appoints Sierra System’s Simon Lanoix as Its President

VANCOUVER, British Columbia — (BUSINESS WIRE) — October 22, 2009 — Sierra Systems Group Inc., a leading information technology and consulting services company, is proud to announce that Simon Lanoix, Vice President, Provincial and Local Government Practice at Sierra Systems, has been appointed as President of the Canadian Institute of Geomatics (CIG) as of October 22, 2009. Simon will apply his more than twenty-five years of experience in IT and Geomatics to uphold and further the CIG’s work as a non-profit scientific and technical association that represents the largest and most influential geospatial knowledge network in Canada.

Simon will continue to focus on fostering cooperation and collaboration among Canadian geomatics organizations and in enhancing public awareness on the role geomatics plays in their daily lives. CIG will also proudly continue to maintain a publication of record of the history, development and progress of geomatics in Canada though its scientific technical journal, Geomatica. And the organization looks forward to furthering the professional development of its members by providing professional networking events, educational offerings and topical publications.
