NEW YORK, NY -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Aug 31, 2009 -- As GPS navigation systems grow more feature-rich, they are creating user experiences that are easier to understand and can make driving safer. G-Map, an Apple iPhone GPS app, has two features that are unique among iPhone GPS systems and particularly helpful to users: Point on Map and Real 3D View.
POINT ON MAP
The "Point on Map" feature provides detailed location information (including the full address and, if available, the phone number) for any spot on the map screen the user touches. G-Map will also instantly plot the route to the location. If the phone number is available, the user may call that number by touching the phone icon. If the point the user selects happens to be one of the tens of thousands G-Map's points of interest (POI), that information will be displayed, as well. G-Map is the first to have this Point on Map feature; it is not available on any personal navigation device (PND) or iPhone GPS application.
REAL 3D VIEW
G-Map presents the most realistic renderings of complicated urban intersections and highway junctions complete with three-dimensional shading, of any iPhone GPS application. The renderings help users more easily recognize their surroundings so they can, along with the spoken guidance, make the correct turn. Driving with G-Map is safer and more comfortable than with systems which use map views that do not clearly indicate the exact turning point or lane to turn, at complicated intersections.
