Enables utility companies to be more cost effective
June 24, 2009 -- Chicago,IL--NAVTEQ, the leading global provider of digital map, traffic and location data for in-vehicle, portable, wireless and enterprise solutions, today announced that it will now offer a Utility Street Data Enterprise License Agreement (ELA) as an enhancement to the recently launched ESRI Small Utilities ELA. Available only through ESRI, this customized NAVTEQ offering can be obtained by any U.S. utility with meter counts of 100,000 or less.
"With this new pricing option, utilities can now access accurate street layer data that previously may have been cost prohibitive," said Bill Meehan, utilities industry director, ESRI. "By combining both the ESRI Small Utilities ELA with the NAVTEQ Utility Street Data offering, these companies will have the content and tools to facilitate the rapid implementation of an enterprise-wide geographic information system."
NAVTEQ and ESRI recognize the importance that rich data plays in the successful implementation of enterprise solutions. Utilities that choose to incorporate NAVTEQ map data will gain access to regularly updated street map data—a cost-effective alternative to creating street data in-house. Additionally, these utilities will have the ability to use NAVTEQ data throughout their companies including desktop and server applications.
"By making this new NAVTEQ Utility Street Data licensing option available to ESRI customers, utility companies of any size can now experience the benefits of having updated street map data that allows them to be more efficient and cost effective," added Roy Kolstad, vice president and general manager, Enterprise Americas, NAVTEQ. "The NAVTEQ map is the common denominator for streamlining asset management, improving business operations, service delivery and customer satisfaction. We look forward to helping utilities nationwide capitalize on these opportunities."
The ESRI Small Utility ELA allows unlimited deployments of selected ESRI ArcGIS software, which is an open and interoperable technology platform that provides capabilities including advanced cartography and visualization, spatial analysis and geographic data management. ArcGIS software is a complete system to author, serve and use geographic information. The technology gets geographic information to those who need it, including analysts, decision makers, field staff, and the public, through its support of Web and desktop clients.
