The GIS Certification Institute is an independent institute supported by representatives from national and international GIS professional organizations. GISCI created the certification program to encourage professional development and provide a means for demonstrating expertise and integrity in the field.
"We are pleased that Lynn and Tim have achieved this professional recognition," said Gary Wilkison, senior vice president of Avineon's Commercial Systems Division. "Their certification will help set Avineon apart as an accomplished, experienced team and demonstrates our commitment to providing our customers with superior service."
Delaney, Avineon's director of technical services for the Geospatial Services Division, is responsible for the technical oversight of GIS project-related tasks conducted at the company's Clearwater, Florida office. He has 16 years of experience in information system technologies and has been with Avineon since 2000. Wilson serves as project coordinator for the company's Commercial Systems Division. She has more than 30 years of experience in GIS, seven of which have been with Avineon.
"With the widespread use of GIS, this certification is a means by which customers can identify the most qualified candidates for GIS work," said Delaney. "It also provides a level of security for customers to see that we have proven our dedication to GIS excellence."
Avineon has recently initiated a company-wide effort to encourage certification among all directors and program managers involved in GIS projects.
