MAYNARD, Mass., June 2 /PRNewswire/ -- MAYNARD, Mass., June 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Stratus Technologies, Inc. announced today that Logistics Systems, Inc. (LogiSYS), the newest member of the Stratus(R) Avance(TM) high-availability software channel program, has completed its first installation of Avance software in the Lowndes County, Georgia 9-1-1 emergency dispatch center.
LogiSYS of Missoula, MT has served the public safety market since 1987, and serves over 2,500 public safety agencies throughout the U.S., Canada, and the Caribbean. It designs, sells and supports software for computer-aided dispatch (CAD), records management, vehicle location, geographic information systems (GIS) mapping, and other products that are individually tailored to the particular needs of law enforcement, fire and emergency services agencies.
Avance software helps LogiSYS bring a higher degree of uptime reliability to its solutions for public safety at an attractive price point, differentiating it from competitors' offerings. Among the Avance features that appeal most to LogiSYS are the ease with which the software can be set up and deployed, as well as its predictive problem analysis and automatic alerting to potential issues.
The software can continue processing during all but the most catastrophic hardware and software fault, preventing the vast majority of downtime instances, data loss or application restarts. Servers, virtual machines and network interfaces are managed from a single Web-based management console that runs within the Avance software.
Lowndes County
LogiSYS signed on as an Avance channel partner just as client Lowndes County, Georgia, was upgrading its CAD software. "Like many of our emergency dispatch center clients, Lowndes County had a two-server set-up that we monitored remotely. It was immediately apparent that, with Avance software, we could easily and cost effectively increase system uptime performance," said Charlie Stortz, vice president of sales and marketing, LogiSYS. "Because of the strong working relationship we've established with the county over the years, they accepted our recommendation without reservation. Our client has been very pleased with the performance, as have we. It's great to find a superior product that's priced right and actually does the job it is purported to do."
Lowndes County dispatch center, which also services adjacent Echols County, purchased two new Dell PowerEdge 2950 servers for its Avance deployment, running Microsoft Windows Server 2003 operating system. LogiSYS is responsible for managing the servers, as well as CAD system software and the interfaces to mobile, automatic vehicle locator (AVL) and records management.
