ANSYS and Autodesk Deliver Interoperable Solutions

SOUTHPOINTE, Pa. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — May 6, 2009 ANSYS, Inc. (NASDAQ: ANSS), a global innovator of simulation software and technologies designed to optimize product development processes, today announced that five of its products are now Inventor®-certified for 32- and 64-bit Inventor 2010 software from Autodesk, Inc. This certification is reserved for partner solutions reviewed by Autodesk® that have demonstrated that the integration is reliable and effective. Because of the strong interoperability between ANSYS and Autodesk technologies, customers will be able to efficiently import CAD models for simulation analysis, saving time and money, enhancing quality and fostering innovation in their product development processes.

“These certifications have been made possible because of the open architecture designed into the ANSYS® Workbench environment and our continued commitment to develop and maintain state-of-the-art interoperability with leading design systems,” said Dipankar Choudhury, vice president of corporate product strategy and planning. “Tightly integrating ANSYS Workbench with Inventor enables our mutual customers to rapidly optimize products and processes, speeding design and development times and reducing costs. Such optimization is a critical part of Simulation Driven Product Development, in which modeling and simulation are used to drive new solutions rather than to merely verify existing ones.”

The Autodesk Inventor 2010 product line is the foundation of the Autodesk solution for Digital Prototyping, which connects every phase of the design process through a single digital model. Autodesk Inventor produces an accurate 3-D model that enables users to validate the form, fit and function of a design before physically building it. The powerful, easy-to-use software helps manufacturers of any size cost effectively take advantage of a Digital Prototyping workflow to design and help build better products in less time.

ANSYS products certified for use with Autodesk Inventor 2010 now include ANSYS® DesignSpace®, ANSYS® Mechanical, ANSYS® Multiphysics, ANSYS® CFX and ANSYS® DesignXplorer. The combination of these products with Autodesk Inventor enables upfront simulation, efficient evaluation of alternative designs and iterative modification of designs for products, such as heavy equipment, that require simulation and collaboration between different groups. These products take advantage of the common, bi-directionally associative interface between the ANSYS Workbench environment and Autodesk Inventor.

“Now more than ever, in this uncertain economy, time to market for an innovative product is critical to creating and maintaining competitiveness,” said Robert “Buzz” Kross, senior vice president of the Manufacturing Industry Group at Autodesk. “The certification of ANSYS, Inc. analysis tools with Inventor 2010 enhances our mutual customers’ productivity in their pursuit of efficiency and greater product quality.”
