“From the many Test of Time nominations received last fall, Test & Measurement World editors selected six finalists—ranging from test-development software to oscilloscopes—to present to our readers in December 2008,” said Rick Nelson, editor-in-chief. “Our readers’ selection of TestKompress as the overall winner indicates the importance of scan test and test-vector compression in getting high-quality chips to market. We congratulate Mentor’s TestKompress team in their development and support efforts,” he added.
The TestKompress embedded compression product was introduced in 2001 as the first to offer significant reductions of scan test data volume and test time. It has since become the leading ATPG and compression tool in the industry. Continued innovation and development have advanced the technology from initial compression levels of 10X to levels exceeding 100X today. The TestKompress product continues to deliver ever-increasing levels of compression to keep pace with the International Technology Roadmap for Semiconductors, which calls for compression levels in excess of 1000X over the next five years.
“We’re honored to be recognized by the test community. Receiving the ‘Test of Time’ award is a nice complement to the ‘Best in Test’ award that we also received from Test & Measurement World in 2002 when TestKompress was first introduced,” stated Greg Aldrich, marketing director for the Silicon Test Solutions group at Mentor Graphics. “Even more gratifying, however, is seeing how our customers have been successful solving some of their critical test issues with the TestKompress product over the past eight years.”
