MUNICH — (BUSINESS WIRE) — April 16, 2009 — Intermap Technologies today announced that uniformly accurate 3D digital elevation models and high-resolution orthorectified radar images of the entire country of Spain are now commercially available. Digital maps of Spain, collected as part of the Company’s proactive NEXTMap Europe program, join France, Germany, Great Britain, Luxembourg, and Italy as full country datasets in the NEXTMap data library. Portions of Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Portugal, Switzerland, and The Netherlands are also in the data library.
“Today’s delivery of data represents a fundamental shift for everyone who works with geospatial data throughout Spain,” said Brian Bullock, Intermap Technologies’ president and chief executive officer. “Considering the fact that countrywide elevation data of uniform quality and accuracy is a rarity throughout most of Western Europe, we feel it is very important that Spain has joined other EU nations already benefiting from these improved geospatial datasets.”
All of Intermap’s NEXTMap datasets include uniform digital surface models (1 meter or better vertical accuracy) that depict the earth’s surface (including cultural features such as vegetation, buildings, and roads). These highly reliable datasets also include digital terrain models displaying the bare earth (with all cultural features digitally removed) and orthorectified radar images that accentuate the country’s topographic features.
Intermap continues to add data to the NEXTMap® library as its NEXTMap Europe program reaches completion this month. The Company has also mapped the contiguous U.S. and Hawaii as part of its NEXTMap USA mapping program.
Data is currently available through the Company’s direct sales team, online via www.TerrainOnDemand.com, or through Intermap’s worldwide partner network. More information can be found at: www.intermap.com/spanish.
