April 14, 2009 -- Dewberry, a nationally recognized consulting firm based in Fairfax, Virginia, has been named Partner of the Year for the Washington, D.C., region by ESRI, a leading geographic information system (GIS) and mapping software developer.
ESRI recognized Dewberry for outstanding achievements over the past year in the areas of innovative product development and fostering ESRI technology into key markets, while exemplifying the culture and ideology of ESRI to include growing GIS solutions in new markets and strengthen the worldwide GIS community. The award was presented at the 2009 ESRI Business Partner Conference in Palm Springs, California, on March 22.
In 2008, Dewberry was selected from over 100,000 ESRI user sites worldwide for ESRI’s Special Achievement in GIS, or SAG, award for its technological contribution to floodplain mapping—GeoFIRM. Built around ESRI’s ArcGIS software, the geodatabase allows Dewberry specialists to automate the digital flood insurance rate map process, thereby increasing accuracy and speed.
Dewberry was also named Partner of the Year in 2005 by ESRI for demonstrating “exemplary leadership using GIS in its emergency response to the devastation inflicted by [the 2004] Florida hurricanes.” ESRI recognized Dewberry’s use of GIS technology to support the efforts of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, as well as state and local governments.
