Maponics, a key source for location-based data, including neighborhood boundaries, postal carrier route boundaries and ZIP Code boundaries, is poised for rapid expansion in 2009.
NORWICH , Vt. ( April 7, 2009 ) - Today Maponics LLC ( http://www.maponics.com), a provider of highly-local geographic data, announced the promotion of two senior executives. This move will further accelerate the unprecedented momentum the company has achieved over the past year, which it projects to continue in 2009.
Mark Friend has been named vice president of sales and marketing and will oversee the expansion of US and international spatial database licensing and partnerships. A key focus will be continuing to develop the Maponics reseller network, a group recently broadened to include MapInfo, Infusion and AWhere.
Friend joined Maponics in early 2008, bringing with him 15 years of technical sales, sales management and business development experience. This includes a substantial background in geospatial technologies from his time as director of sales and business development at Tactician and director of strategic sales at Vicinity.
Steve Zuckerman, who joined Maponics in 2003, has been named vice president of technical operations. In this role, Zuckerman will continue to lead the design, production, delivery and maintenance of all Maponics spatial datasets.
With over 24 years of spatial data and cartographic experience, which includes expertise gained from tenures at the Department of Defense, the US Census Bureau and Geographic Data Technology (now Tele Atlas), Zuckerman is an industry-recognized innovator of spatial data and map production processes and systems.
"It's been an exciting couple of years for Maponics and these guys have been critical to our success," says Darrin Clement, founder and CEO of Maponics. "With their added responsibility and the outstanding performance of their teams, we'll continue to increase our market leadership in local search, real estate, wireless, and direct marketing, and we'll expand our presence in other verticals. Mark has been instrumental in closing many strategic deals and in creating the Maponics' Reseller Channel. Steve has masterfully overseen a vast expansion of our product line and internal infrastructure. I'm extremely confident in their ability to continue aggressive build-out of our infrastructure and to serve our spatial data customers well, especially as we expand internationally."
Clement will continue to set the strategic direction of Maponics and lead the corporate development initiatives focused on acquiring companies and data assets.
