American Infrastructure, a CMiC Client, To Perform First Stimulus Package Project

Pennsylvania-Based Heavy Civil Construction Company to Repave Route 650 in Maryland

TORONTO –March 10, 2009 – CMiC, the leader in providing software solutions for the architectural, engineering and construction industry, announced that American Infrastructure, a CMiC client since 2008, was awarded the first contract to be funded from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). Under ARRA, the U.S. government has released $26.6 billion to state and local transportation authorities for the building and rebuilding of roads, highways and bridges. In addition to repaving a mile-long section of Route 650 in Maryland, American Infrastructure’s project includes replacing curbs and gutters, installing pedestrian signals at crosswalks and bringing sidewalks up to standards established under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

According to Mark Compton, director of government affairs for American Infrastructure, the stimulus package money will support 60 jobs, including re-hiring some laid-off employees. American Infrastructure will continue to bid on new projects so employees can roll off this project and onto another, Compton said. Based in the Mid-Atlantic region, American Infrastructure consistently ranks in the top half of ENR’s Top 400 Contractors, as well as the Top 25 Highway Contractors. American Infrastructure replaced their previous non-integrated software systems with CMiC Enterprise, CMiC Project Management and CMiC Integration because of the full integration and access to information provided by CMiC software.

“CMiC would like to congratulate American Infrastructure on winning this important project,” said Bassem Hamdy, vice president of solutions at CMiC. “CMiC is the only construction specific software solution that gives contractors the necessary tools to effectively manage public projects. CMiC software provides the access to information and control over the environment that is needed to meet government requirements. As the ARRA creates more projects, we fully expect American Infrastructure, and other CMiC clients, to have the competitive advantage through CMiC software to win and complete these projects.”
