Telcordia Technologies, through its subsidiary MESA Solutions, unveiled the 3.0 release of its Telcordia Network Engineer software at the GITA Annual Conference in San Antonio. Significantly new functionality in version 3.0 addresses next generation network challenges of efficiently operating and managing networks, and delivering competitive services.
Network Engineer is a comprehensive geospatial network management solution for documenting the network infrastructure. Streamlining processes mark the new release with productivity improvements for the design and management of outside and inside plant networks. Version 3.0 includes a published API based on the Microsoft Component Object Model (COM) architecture. The API allows developers to quickly extend functionality and integrate Network Engineer with legacy systems.
Network Engineer 3.0 has recently been selected at several customer sites, including an independent telecommunications provider in Canada, a utility company in Puerto Rico, Lithuania Energy, and Hydro One Telecom (HOT). Located in Ontario, HOT will be the first customer to deploy the new 3.0 release. “The Network Engineer solution will allow us to effectively manage our existing high-speed broadband network, while supporting the implementation of new equipment and network growth," said Aaron Cheng, director of IT Systems at HOT.
Jonathan Spinney, telecommunications industry manager at ESRI states, “Network Engineer 3.0 is the solution of choice for modeling, designing and managing next generation networks. Combined with the open, scalable architecture of ArcGIS, Network Engineer brings together a completely integrated solution for enabling a real-time view of network resources, and delivering a seamless flow of information throughout the enterprise. The investment telecommunications companies make in Network Engineer will help to improve the service delivery network and automate business processes.”
Two new complimentary, but separately priced applications are introduced with the Network Engineer 3.0 release. Network Engineer Analyst application is a data access solution for viewing, querying, analyzing, and reporting on the network data maintained within the Network Engineer environment. Schematic Generation is a pre-integrated component within the new release of Network Engineer environment, enabling users to access the ESRI ArcGIS Schematics application – thus providing another visualization dimension to network data for analysis and decision support.
"With a focus on long-term customer relationships, our priority is to deliver products that help support and optimize our customer’s investment in their service delivery network. Network Engineer 3.0 raises the bar on productivity enhancements and data sharing across a distributed enterprise to drive more efficient operations, improve customer service, and positively effect the bottom line,” says Tom Counts, president of MESA Solutions.
