(Feb. 19, 2009/Harrisburg, Pa.) The United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) recently integrated the Defense Transportation and Tracking Service (DTTS) legacy system functionality into IRRIS, its enterprise Web portal. This integration will enable USTRANSCOM to better identify, assess, monitor, and respond to the protection of infrastructures critical to the military’s activities. IRRIS is maintained by GeoDecisions, an information technology company specializing in geospatial solutions.
The capabilities in DTTS enable users to support sensitive cargo management, tracking, and emergency response activities through an intuitive interface. Now, the geographic information system (GIS), Web, and service-oriented architecture capabilities in IRRIS will receive, process, and display satellite tracking and messaging data from conveyance transponders, resulting in a projected $6 million cost avoidance and savings.
