Ford to speak on the benefits of Vehicle Aerodynamics in the design process
Melville, New York and London, England (PRWEB) February 11 2009 -- CD-adapco, the leading provider of Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) and CAE software and services, today announced the launch of their Vehicle Simulation Resource Center, http://solutions.cd-adapco.com. The center has been established to provide engineers with access to application briefs related to the simulation of: Aerodynamics and Vehicle Thermal Management; In Cylinder Modeling, Powertrain Analysis; Passenger Comfort; Aftertreatment; and Fuel Cells. Additional topics will be added in the coming months.
The first release of the website features over 30 stories from leading companies such as, ArvinMeritor, BEHR, Caterpillar, DANA Engine, DENSO, Ford, Harley-Davidson, SAAB and others. Visitors can investigate how these and other companies benefit from using simulation to optimize their design process. Examples will demonstrate solutions for automating the entire simulation process from geometry import, to analysis results. Other samples include applications of flow and thermal simulations, and techniques for rapidly evaluating designs using steady and unsteady simulations.
Below highlights a few examples from the website, more detail on these and other stories can be found at http://solutions.cd-adapco.com.
"Incorporating CFD into the product development process allows Harley-Davidson Motor Company engineers to improve product quality while simultaneously reducing development time and cost. The resulting products incorporate advanced technologies while maintaining the corporate heritage." Paul Troxler, Harley-Davidson Motor Company
"Drag reduction of the Ford Fusion Hydrogen 999 was a key element of the successful world record attempt. By taking advantage of CFD analysis, physical test times could be reduced and multiple configurations of the vehicle studied." John W. Zaleski, Program Manager, Roush Industries.
"CD-adapco has been providing CFD and CAE solutions to Vehicle Manufacturers and suppliers since 1980. Over that time our customers have increased productivity, improved their time to market and have realized a positive impact on the cost of their products," said Steve MacDonald, President of CD-adapco. "The website will serve as a knowledge center for us to give back some of the information and benefits we have discovered using applications like STAR-CCM+."
To support the launch of the Resource Center CD-adapco will host an online event on February 26. This event will examine the benefits of applying advanced CFD technology for the simulation of Vehicle Aerodynamics and Thermal Management.
The online seminar is free and will include a presentation from Robert Lietz who is the CFD Technical Expert at Ford Aerodynamics. Mr. Lietz will discuss how the availability of simulation data early in the design process can guide decision-making and minimize engineering risk. Attendees will have a better understanding how CFD tools like STAR-CCM+ are impacting companies like Ford. Those interested in attending can register at http://www.cd-adapco.com/VehicleWebinar
