- Proven track record in deployments by multi-utilities across Germany and Austria,
- Support for Oracle Spatial,
- Ability to integrate with other enterprise systems.
Stadtwerke Essen expects substantial productivity gains from its new GIS. The multi-utility will access its new software through Bentley’s Municipal License Subscription (MLS) program, which it joined for a period of five years.
“Our previous GIS had reached the end of its life,” said Herr Thomas Reineck, manager, technical data services, Stadtwerke Essen. “After rigorously testing and benchmarking a number of competing products, we determined that Bentley sisNET was the best technology for us to use in developing our replacement system. In order to deliver low-cost, reliable and safe utility services to our customers, we require a GIS that will let us work at maximum efficiency.”
Reineck continued, “Once we made the decision to go with Bentley software, we further determined that the easiest and most cost-effective way to access this technology was to join Bentley’s innovative MLS. Being able to download the full range of Bentley software on demand and deploy it immediately – rather than contending with a lengthy budget approval process each time we need a new piece of software – gives us the flexibility and agility to better succeed in today’s highly competitive business environment.”
Stadtwerke Essen will deploy MicroStation for design and engineering and Bentley sisNET as a GIS to deliver documentation and facilities management for its three networks. In addition, it will use Bentley sisIMS to publish GIS and engineering data via the web to nontechnical users, and deploy Bentley sisFLOW to integrate the information with work-management systems. Bentley sisVIEW is the multi-utility’s choice for offline access to GIS and engineering data used by field engineers.

About Bentley’s MLS Program
Bentley’s MLS program offers municipalities all the software they need to design and manage all their infrastructure for a fixed annual fee based on population. The breakthrough program enables them to improve productivity and reduce administrative costs by outfitting their entire mapping and engineering organizations with fully integrated software for GIS and engineering workflows. This leads to improved services and more efficient government.
Because the program’s fee is fixed, Bentley’s MLS guarantees predictable software costs and budgeting. In addition, it removes the administrative burden of complex software licenses, shortens procurement cycles, speeds project starts, and ultimately leads to more efficient government.
