GITA Events’ Exhibit Booths Selling Fast

Association Predicts a Promising Future for Geospatial Infrastructure Solutions

Aurora, Colo. - January 7, 2009 - The Geospatial Information & Technology Association (GITA) is very pleased to announce that both exhibit halls for the 2009 Geospatial Infrastructure Solutions Conference and GIS for Oil & Gas Conference are already more than 70% sold out, and the association has additional reasons to remain optimistic despite the economic climate.

Recent headlines have continuously mentioned proposals and plans for heavy investment in infrastructure. This news, along with the fact that GITA is well-positioned financially to weather the current economic climate, gives the geospatial industry even more reason to celebrate the New Year.

“There is a huge sense of urgency to invest now in your geospatial education because big investments in infrastructure are coming—it may be tomorrow or later in the future, but geospatial infrastructure stakeholders need a plan to get a piece of the pie,” said Robert Samborski, GITA’s executive director. “We know times were especially tough over the last few months, but that’s all the more reason to get ready for massive funding that will only funnel to the geospatial industry if practitioners show justification with the right contacts, technology, and numbers.”

A GITA membership, along with conference attendance, is the best way to be ready for whatever geospatial opportunities 2009 brings. GITA is the premier resource for geospatial practitioners to build business cases and meet the right people at events, like the Geospatial Infrastructure Solutions Conference ( http://www.gita.org/gis), April 19-22, 2009, in Tampa, FL; and the GIS for Oil & Gas Conference ( http://www.gita.org/oilgas), Sept. 13-17, 2009, in Houston, Texas. Vendor companies can sign up to exhibit at both of these events now, and registration is open for the Solutions Conference.

Practitioners can visit gita.org/membership to get full details on GITA membership benefits. The GITA Web site features additional resources, such as GITA’s new CIP-ER Space

( http://www.gita.org/ciper) and publications Geospatial Technology Report ( http://www.gita.org/gtr) and ROI Workbook ( http://www.gita.orb/roi).

The mission of the Geospatial Information & Technology Association (GITA) is to provide excellence in education, information exchange, and applied research on the use and benefits of geospatial information and technology solutions for infrastructure. Visit GITA on the Web at www.gita.org.
