MADISON, WI – December 8, 2008 – GeoAnalytics® Inc., an IT consulting firm that specializes in the planning, design, and implementation of spatial intelligence systems, has completed a GIS-Based Local Forecast Data Collection Application called FutureView for the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP).
FutureView is a next-generation, field-based data collection application being used by CMAP personnel to facilitate the gathering, visualization, and impact analysis of future land use decisions by local government officials. CMAP’s planning region encompasses seven counties in northeastern Illinois covering over 4,000 square miles. Collected information will support regional comprehensive plan development and the formulation of population, household, and employment projections used in CMAP's innovative GO TO 2040 plan. CMAP will develop and implement strategies to address projected population and employment growth and its serious implications for transportation, housing, economic development, open space, the environment, and other quality of life issues. See www.cmap.illinois.gov and www.goto2040.org for more information..
GeoAnalytics provided CMAP with technical leadership for the design, development, and deployment of FutureView. The solution is based in part on Placeways, LLC’s CommunityViz Scenario 360 product and ArcGIS Desktop 9.3 technology from ESRI. “FutureView is already being employed to facilitate discussions with local officials regarding their expectations of land use, population, households, and employment for 2040 in a manner that is both collaborative and transparent,” said Jack Pfingston, Senior Forecast Analyst for CMAP. “Its design will allow us to accommodate changes in future data collection needs based on evolving regional planning issues and priorities.”
