2nd December 2008, Cambridge, UK. 1Spatial is delighted to announce their participation in the Maltese geo-community event ‘Location: Exploiting the benefits’, being held in St Julian’s Malta on Friday 5th December.
1Spatial is a silver sponsor of the conference, organised by the Malta Association for Geographic Information (MAGI), the Malta Institution of Surveyors (MIoS) and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors – Malta (RICS Malta). The event is designed to bring together the local surveying and geo-community in an environment for networking, knowledge sharing and collaboration, which organisers hope will help to engage and strengthen the surveying and GI industries in Malta. Vanessa Lawrence CB, Director General of Ordnance Survey Great Britain, will be delivering the keynote speech at the conference.
1Spatial’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr Michael Sanderson, will be presenting a paper entitled “Location at the heart of data quality” that will examine two themes in relation to the benefits of location; the certification of data quality in business systems and the opportunity provided by intelligent databases for data reuse in conjunction with INSPIRE. The paper will also describe the key elements in the reuse paradigm and the formation of a knowledge exchange community, citing examples from projects involving 1Spatial.
Dr Sanderson comments: “The importance of location is well known to the GIS community, but with most data available today having a location attribute, the benefits of location information are important to everyone in the wider business community. This event will raise awareness of the advantages of utilising location information in mainstream business systems and 1Spatial is pleased to be involved as a presenter and sponsor.”
