Pictometry Unveils New Technologies This Week at FutureView

ROCHESTER, NY – October 30, 2008 – Pictometry International Corp., a leading provider of geo-referenced aerial image libraries whose patented and proprietary technology is used globally to capture oblique imagery, is concluding its FutureView 2008 user conference this week in San Antonio where new technologies debuted.

New Pictometry technologies unveiled at FutureView include:

  • Pictometry In*Site, an image capture technology for building interiors
  • a real time image capture system, and
  • Pictometry AccuPlus®, an extremely high resolution, multiple data set package
Pictometry In*Site is a new critical infrastructure intelligence product which blends Pictometry oblique imagery of building exteriors with three levels of critical infrastructure intelligence including overlays of digitized interior blue prints. In*Site enables emergency response professionals, particularly those involved with fire and school safety, to more accurately respond to crisis situations. Other applications for In*Site include pre-planning for situations involving critical infrastructure buildings such as airports, hospitals, universities and more.

“The ability to literally see inside a building is critical, particularly in a crisis situation,” said Pictometry’s Chief Marketing Officer Dante Pennacchia. “With our new interiors technology, now it’s possible.”

Also new this year is Pictometry’s Real-time Airborne Management System (RAMS). The system complements Pictometry’s Economic Alliance Partnership (EAP), a program that was developed to create an economic alliance between Pictometry’s commercial and government customers.

“Through our EAP program, we have been capturing disaster imagery for commercial customers and sharing it with affected counties at a reduced cost, all within days of a catastrophe,” explained Pennacchia. “Now, with our real time solution we can provide imagery in seconds.”

Pictometry’s real time solution has three versions for situations of varying size and scope – from large public gatherings to emergency response. New imagery captured by the real time system can be viewed using Pictometry’s Change Analysis®, a software program designed to align new and existing imagery of an area to reveal critical information in a side-by-side analysis. Pictometry’s real time system also uses an automated method of image processing to enable users to receive and transmit large data streams of visual information in seconds.

Pictometry also showcased AccuPlus, a product contains three extremely high resolution datasets, all captured within the same time frame to provide better image continuity for customers as well as the convenience of working with a single source vendor.

Guest speaker for this year’s conference was Don Cooke, Chief Scientist for Tele Atlas, the leading provider of digital maps and content for the burgeoning personal navigation industry. Cooke addressed a FutureView audience of more than 200 attendees including international users, engineers, geospatial experts, and professionals in insurance, E9-1-1, GIS, and tax assessment. Former Pictometry FutureView guest speakers have included former U.S. Governor John Sununu (NH) and Jason Barbour, President of the National Emergency Number Association.

“There’s always something new at FutureView --” said Jack Maguire, GIS Manager for Lexington County , SC , “new technologies, new possibilities, you name it.”

FutureView is the only user conference of its kind focused exclusively on geo-referenced oblique aerial imaging technology. The conference features innovative new technologies, exhibits from Pictometry business partners, continuing education opportunities for GIS, E9-1-1 and tax assessment; and workshops on maximizing Pictometry products to improve work efficiencies. This year’s conference began October 27 and will conclude October 29. For more on FutureView, visit www.pictometry.com.
