CMiC Recognizes Layton Companies, DPR Construction and Paric Corporation with CMiC Innovation Awards

TORONTO—(BUSINESS WIRE)—October 2, 2008— CMiC, the leader in providing software solutions for the architectural, engineering and construction industry, announced the winners of the 2008 Innovation Awards. The Layton Companies, of Sandy, UT won 1st place, DPR Construction of Redwood City, CA won 2nd place and Paric Corporation, OFallon, MO, won 3rd place. The Innovation Awards ceremony took place at the 10th annual CMiC Connect in Chicago, IL. The awards were judged by a representative from McGraw-Hill Construction.

The CMiC Innovation Awards is our way of praising our users who strive to use CMiC software in innovative ways to improve productivity, said Bassem Hamdy, vice president of solutions at CMiC. The Innovation Award winners demonstrated considerable return on investment with their innovations to CMiC software and as the economy moves into uncertain territory, getting the most out of your software system is imperative. It is on the strength of our users, who constantly push the limits of technology to achieve new levels of efficiency that CMiC has become the leader in providing ERP software solutions for the AEC industry.

The Layton Companies won 1st place for the Concrete Scorecard, a graphical representation of the performance of concrete projects. This innovation was based on a customized Production Report that displays the weekly, job-to-date, budget dollars for each phase code along with a metric for production for concrete jobs.

In todays market, we understand that business as usual is not going to secure success, said Craig Lawson, director of accounting for the Layton Companies. CMiC is a competitive edge for us in the construction industry. Our innovation allowed our self-performed concrete managers to have a weekly trend analysis sent to them automatically in a graphical format so that inefficiencies or overages could immediately be identified and discussed with the client. This sort of analytics makes us more efficient and saves time, but the real success is in our ability to communicate issues with the client upfront so that we can preserve relationships and allow our clients to make informed decisions. The Layton Companies will be donating the $10,000 award money to the Huntsman Cancer Foundation.

DPR Construction won 2nd place for innovations made to CMiC Project Management. As a technical builder, DPR has some unique business needs and added enhancements to CMiC Project Management. DPR will be donating the $3,000 award money to the DPR Foundation.

Paric Corporation implemented CMiC Project Management and combined with CMiC Enterprise found considerable time and money savings in the automation of various processes. Paric will be donating the $2,000 award money to the Multiple Sclerosis National Research Institute.
