PCI Geomatics signs Memorandum of Understanding with the National Geomatics Center of China

Richmond Hill, Ontario - September 4, 2008: PCI Geomatics is pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Geomatics Center of China (NGCC). The MoU outlines plans for collaboration on the development of a project for change detection with satellite imagery. Project results will include the creation of a dynamic digital map generation and updating system, along with a capability for large image storage.

The project will take full advantage of existing PCI Geomatics solutions technology. This includes PCI Geomatics’ Professional Software Development Kit (ProSDK) and pluggable functions (ProPacks) along with NGCC’s data source for the China region. The research and development capabilities of both organizations will be utilized.

The National Geomatics Center of China is a government agency which functions as a National Archives for Surveying and Mapping. NGCC is regarded as the national team in the field of fundamental geographic information, in terms of engineering projects, technological research, application development and information dissemination. It has undergone the transition from traditional analogue surveying systems to modern digital systems comprising of GPS, remote sensing, GIS and internet technology.
