New Versions of Autodesk NavisWorks Product Line Now Available

Autodesk NavisWorks 2009.1 Products Support DGN v8; Now Available in French, German, Japanese, Russian and Simplified Chinese

SAN RAFAEL, Calif., Aug. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Autodesk, Inc., (NASDAQ: ADSK) today announced the release of Autodesk NavisWorks 2009.1 software products, supporting the company's efforts to help make the building information modeling (BIM) process more accurate and reliable for plant designers and architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) professionals. The NavisWorks software products aid project model understanding and include a real-time environment for rapid review, offering a more reliable way to validate, challenge and check detailed designs. The new versions of the product line include enhancements that allow architects, engineers, designers and builders to better experience a project before it is real by extending their design data to more project stakeholders through increased compatibility and an improved user experience.

The Autodesk NavisWorks 2009.1 product line has been localized and is now available in French, German, Japanese, Russian and Simplified Chinese in addition to English. In addition, NavisWorks 2009.1 products have been enhanced with a DGN v8 file reader, uniting 3D content from Autodesk and Bentley for design validation, logistics analysis and construction scheduling. With the addition of DGN v8 support, the new 2009.1 versions feature unique compatibility with most native AEC design and laser scan file formats. Design data created in the BIM process using tools such as Autodesk's Revit platform for BIM, can be combined with geometry and information created with other design tools, and analyzed for design interferences or constructability.

"The Autodesk NavisWorks 2009.1 product line contributes significantly to the BIM workflow and helps to ensure that the high quality, coordinated and consistent information produced during the BIM process extends across the project," said Peter Thompson, NavisWorks Business Line Director, Autodesk AEC Solutions. "The NavisWorks 2009.1 product line offers engineers and designers a whole-project view and the tools required for an all-digital 3D project review process that is more effective and streamlined to help reduce risk, and to improve productivity and quality."

Updates were made to the full Autodesk NavisWorks product line, which enables seamless visualization of all types of models, precise replication of designs, and accurate simulation of 4D construction schedules. The NavisWorks products help keep all project stakeholders on the same digital page, whether they are creating, viewing or reviewing 3D models.
