The LDS343 was developed in a close working relationship with Sony Corporation, one of the leading display suppliers in the world. The LDS343 is designed into and shipping in the newly released Sony Ericsson W980 mobile phone.
The LDS343 is a QVGA LTPS LCD display controller targeted at mobile consumer applications. The device was specifically developed for a new generation of LTPS panels with System On Panel (SOP) technology. SOP allows display manufacturers to integrate most of the LCD driver functions directly on to the glass thereby reducing component count and cost. The LDS343 has a host of features for improved display performance, lower power, and lower cost. It has integrated full frame memory to support up to 16M colors, thereby reducing power consumption dramatically over RAMless designs. The LDS343 also integrates window layering and color matrix functions, as well as several analog components such as the power switch and the LDO regulator.
"The LDS343 represents a new breed of LCD display devices for SOP technology," said Keeho Kim, General Manager of the Display Driver Business at Leadis. "It gives customers a new level of integration and features not previously available."
