This project is part of Pixxures’ strategic plan to extend its production and service expertise outside of the traditional core markets in North America. “Pixxures and Fit Conseil share a lot of similarities and common goals. Not only do we acquire and process imagery, but both companies are committed to expanding the use of value-added information extracted from this imagery for the benefit of our worldwide clients. Fit Conseil is the perfect partner for this work,” said Steve Jennings, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Pixxures, Inc.
Earlier this year, Pixxures performed orthophoto mosaic production on ADS40 imagery acquired by Fit Conseil. The project area consisted of approximately 500 square miles along the Nile River, north of Khartum in the Sudan region. Pixxures has already begun working on an extension to the Sudan project and will process an additional 579 square miles along the Nile River east and west regions.
“We were working on an important project in terms of volume. We had short deadlines and did not have enough capacity to do all the work ourselves,” said Gabriella Toth, head of the Photogrammetry Department at Fit Conseil. “We were already familiar with Pixxures as they had contacted us about a project they were doing in Europe. We knew we had similar work methods and production lines, so there was a mutual understanding from the get-go.”
The imagery that Pixxures is processing for Fit Conseil will be used by engineers working with the government of Sudan on a critical infrastructure project along the Nile River.
“Pixxures’ level of responsiveness to our project and their ability to meet our deadlines and deliver a product that is up to our standards, is important in terms of our own relationship with our client,” added Toth. “We would like to continue our collaboration, especially on this kind of widespread project.”
