The TA7502 driver chip integrates QVGA resolution (320x240) and supports TFT-LCD displays that produce 262,144 colors. The new chip supports 18/16 bit bus interface, which increases the recording speed from MPU to DDRAM, resulting in a significant enhancement in processing time. The TA7502 also provides diverse power saving modes, such as Standby Mode and Partial Display Mode. Most importantly, the TA7502 incorporates Smart Mobile Luminance Control (SMLC) technology, which dramatically improves power efficiency in digital devices. SMLC reduces the luminance of LCD backlights by up to 50% through analysis of image data in LCD driver chips and through adjustment of power consumption rates in LED drivers.
Tae Young Hwang, Executive Vice President and General Manager of MagnaChip's Display Solutions Division, said, "The introduction of products with SMLC technology is timely given the increasing demand for green, energy efficient products. We expect to continue to launch additional driver chips with SMLC technology and other distinctive features to meet this growing demand."
