Boston, May 13, 2008 – Free Building Information Modeling (BIM) software and new book signings by BIM and architectural authors are a few of the highlights from Graphisoft at American Institute of Architects (AIA) 2008 National Conference this week in Boston.
Graphisoft is giving away its free interactive BIM Experience Kit with a 30-day full version of ArchiCAD, the company’s 3D BIM modeling software. The BIM Experience Kit provides everything a user needs to begin learning BIM – including interactive learning and online assessment – based upon the Frank Lloyd Wright designed Massaro House through 10 voice-led exercises in ArchiCAD 11.
Graphisoft is also previewing new enhancements to its upcoming next-generation BIM software, along with the newly affordable ArchiCAD START Edition designed for small architectural firms.
Graphisoft’s new technology demos will be supported by complementary software products from partners including VICO Software’s award winning virtual construction software, CADimage Tools suite of ArchiCAD productivity tools, among many others.
Book signings
On May 15 and 16 authors Sarah Susanka and Finith Jernigan will sign copies of their latest books, which will be available for purchase. Susanka’s The Not So Big House: A blueprint for the way we live brings to light a new way of thinking about what makes a place feel like home, including characteristics that people desire in their homes and lives, but haven’t known how to verbalize.
Jernigan’s BIG BIM, little bim cuts through the hype to provide clarity about integrated practice and BIM. Based on 20 years of successful projects, the book shows how to leverage resources, compete in a worldwide market, and become more efficient and productive in the planning, design, construction and operation of facilities.
Rounding out Graphisoft’s conference calendar is a presentation titled “BIM: We did it, so can you” by Irwin Pancake Architects Charles Goodman, AIA, and Melisa Pense, AIA. This AIA CES presentation takes place May 15, 2008 at 6:00 pm.
