March 17, 2008 -- Goldsboro, NC - Geographic Technologies Group, Inc. (GTG) announces that St. Mary’s County, Maryland chose GTG to develop a master address data layer, focusing on the advancement of public safety related GIS data.
“Addressing is an important aspect to any local government organization wanting effective, high quality emergency services,” said Joe Renzetti, GTG’s project manager for St. Mary’s County. “When someone dials 911, it is important for emergency personnel to know and see the specific location of the incident before arriving on the scene.”
The main components of the project include the development of a geodatabase model, an update of the building rooflines data layer, and field verification of all addressable structures. GTG will also be updating the impervious surface GIS layer. This will include streets, structures, parking lots, and other impervious features.
“GTG is excited to continue its longstanding relationship with St. Mary’s County. We have been working together over the past years to ensure that the St. Mary’s GIS and Public Safety initiatives are utilizing the best of breed software solutions. Creating more detailed and accurate GIS data will improve the County’s ability to respond to emergencies and manage their stormwater program.” said Curt Hinton, CEO of GTG.
