INTERGEO, which is taking place from 24 to 26 September 2024, offers an extensive EXPO and CONFERENCE platform for industry professionals and decision-makers to discuss the latest geoinformation trends and technologies. Be part of this event and help actively shape the future of geoinformation! Get your ticket now and benefit from three days packed full of knowledge, networking and innovation.
The importance of geoinformation
Geoinformation is now essential for making the right decisions when it comes to urban, transport and energy planning. It plays a key role in disaster preparedness, environmental protection and resource management. Global challenges such as the climate crisis, urbanisation and resource security can only be tackled with the help of geospatial data – a development that is being accelerated by enhanced computing power and technologies such as artificial intelligence and cloud computing.
A must for industry professionals and decision-makers
The INTERGEO CONFERENCE 2024 will demonstrate why geoinformation is vital in our modern world. Focusing on Earth observation and digital twins, the event offers a unique opportunity to explore and discuss the latest developments and trends. What’s more, digitalisation and AI will form an integral part of almost all sessions of the conference programme. The conflicting priorities of housing/construction, transport and energy in urban and rural areas will also be under the spotlight. Another focal point will be BIM (building information modelling), and demonstrating how BIM and GIS (geographic information systems) can support the construction industry. Ample attention will also be paid to digitalisation and trends in geoinformation management. Meanwhile, the parallel sessions will delve into everything from applications for urban digital twins to the latest developments in engineering geodesy.
Opening and keynote speeches
INTERGEO starts on Tuesday, 24 September at Messe Stuttgart with a welcoming address by Juliane Seifert, State Secretary at the German Federal Ministry of the Interior and Community, who will be speaking on behalf of event patron Nancy Faeser. Prof. Rudolf Staiger, President of INTERGEO host the DVW (German Association for Geodesy, Geoinformation and Land Management), will also be welcoming participants. “INTERGEO offers the international geo community a unique platform to discuss the latest developments in geodesy, geoinformation and land management. We are looking forward to three exciting days packed full of innovations and discoveries that reflect the INTERGEO motto – Inspiration for a smarter world – in all its facets,” he says, emphasising the event’s significance.
Keynote – Earth observation for a changing world
Dr. Walther Pelzer, Head of the DLR (German Aerospace Center), is giving the opening keynote “Earth observation for a world in transition – global monitoring and local action”. He will be showing how satellite surveillance and local measures interact to overcome pressing challenges. Earth observation technologies not only support scientific research, but also make a major contribution to practical applications such as civil protection, transport planning and climate modelling.
INTERGEO technology hub – the future of geodesy
In his opening keynote, Dr. Burkhard Boeckem, CTO of Hexagon AB, will be highlighting developments at the forefront of technology. A leading global provider of sensor, software and autonomous solutions, Hexagon combines these technologies in a digital reality in order to boost efficiency, productivity, quality and safety. The company designs networked and autonomous ecosystems that are shaping the future of urban infrastructure and industrial production, while also ensuring sustainability.
Recognising innovative ideas – the DVW Future Prize
One opening highlight will be the presentation of the DVW Future Prize, which recognises pioneering ideas and achievements in geodesy, geoinformation and land management that have led to significant scientific and technological progress. Awarded every two years, the prize emphasises the interdisciplinary and social relevance of the winning projects.
German Cartography Congress
The DKK (German Cartography Congress) will once again be part of INTERGEO in 2024. The compact programme of lectures will take place on Wednesday, 25 September. One highlight will be the keynote speech by Prof. Frank Dickmann (Bochum) entitled “Map and brain – the opportunities of cognitive science findings for cartography”. Further insights will be provided by Prof. Jochen Schiewe with his vision for the DGfK (German Cartography Society) between now and 2030. Dr. Anja Hopfstock and Prof. Dirk Burghardt will then be presenting innovative approaches to cartography and explaining the role of AI in this sector. Immersive VR experiences with geodata will round off the congress.
Digital twins, Earth observation and satellite data
On the first day of the INTERGEO 2024 conference, participants can look forward to exciting parallel sessions focusing on digital twins, Earth observation and satellite data for the climate.
Building information modelling (BIM) and urban planning
The second day of the conference will be devoted to building information modelling (BIM) as well as urban planning, land development and real estate valuation.
The future of geoinformation management, urban digital twins and engineering geodesy
The third day of the conference will offer parallel sessions focusing on the future of geoinformation management, urban digital twins and engineering geodesy.
