NM Group takes delivery of Optech Galaxy T2000 and Onboard real-time processing solution

Vaughan, Ontario, CANADA – April 30, 2024– Teledyne Geospatial is pleased to announce the delivery of the Optech Galaxy T2000 and the Galaxy Onboard real-time processing solution to NM Group. A leading global provider of lidar-based services for energy transmission and distribution operators, NM Group specializes in delivering highly accurate geospatial data-based analysis and insights for engineering, asset, and vegetation management stakeholders.

The Galaxy T2000 will survey large-scale transmission and distribution projects in North America, the UK, and Australia. The collected data will ultimately be used to build PLS-CADD models for transmission engineering and vegetation risk analysis. Using lidar as the foundation, NM Group also build network-wide digital twins of millions of electricity distribution poles and serve this data to utility stakeholders in a 3D environment via their cloud software, Caydence. The addition of Galaxy Onboard will allow the company to minimize the risk of re-flights and reduce hours of post-survey data checking, allowing them to reduce time for their clients. For time-critical applications, Onboard’s real-time processing will empower NM Group to accelerate their workflow from the plane directly to analytics and support applications such as rapid vegetation encroachment reporting, infrastructure damage detection and more.

Kostas Lopsaitis, CEO of NM Group commented: “As a leading professional services firm supporting critical infrastructure utilities in some of the most developed energy markets, we always want to use the best tools available. I’m excited to continue expanding our operational capabilities with another Galaxy sensor system from Teledyne Optech. From Sydney, Australia, to Vancouver, Canada, we are now even better equipped to support our customers in running a safe, reliable, and efficient energy supply and transitioning to net zero.”

“We are delighted to continue our longstanding partnership with NM Group. Their decision to acquire a third Teledyne Geospatial lidar sensor equipped with the cutting-edge Galaxy Onboard real-time processing option is a testament to their commitment to staying abreast of technological advancements in critical infrastructure mapping. We take great pride in supporting these special projects,” said Peter Pallos, Regional Sales Manager at Teledyne Geospatial.

Teledyne Geospatial unifies the hardware and software expertise of both Teledyne CARIS and Teledyne Optech.  The new group provides customers with innovative integrated solutions. Offerings include turnkey systems, lidar and sonar integrated workflows and a range of systems and solutions that support holistic, precision data collection.
