Carol Stream, Ill. – July 31, 2019 – Change management is challenging, yet can be highly rewarding for any team. At the Constructech annual Technology Days Conference, taking place on August 21 - 22, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Chicago – Arlington Heights, Ill., attendees will discover the techniques necessary for developing a change management strategy.
Geoff Mulligan, a White House presidential innovation fellow and U.S. representative to the United Nations smart and sustainable cities project, will dive into the topic, focusing on how a successful change management solution depends on a realistic understanding of the problem that is to be solved and the interrelated human connections, both direct and indirect. As the CTO for IIoT Jabil, and co-founder of Skylight, Mulligan understands to be effective in change management every process, system, and job must be impacted.
“Buildings that can ‘speak’ is a huge enabler for sustainability,” says Mulligan. “Teaching older buildings to ‘speak’ through open standards and open APIs offers even larger opportunities. Using lean/agile methods allows us to design, build, and deploy smart buildings and smart construction incrementally like use ‘Legos.’ I’m excited by the opportunity to speak about using the IIoT to impact and improve sustainability."
Mulligan will be kicking off the sessions on Wednesday, August 21 and will give insight into how to best address change management and answer the question: How will the transition impact stakeholders, project team members, finance departments, and more in the short and long term? Mulligan will also help close out the event with a group discussion on interoperability and what’s ahead for the construction industry as a whole.
Throughout the conference, other tracks include topics such as off-site manufacturing, AI (artificial intelligence), the labor shortage, infrastructure challenges, cities of the future, and much more. To see the complete agenda, please visit https://constructech.com/agenda/
One of the sessions near the end of the event focuses on the state of the market today and will identify how emerging technologies both on the jobsite and in the lifecycle of buildings and homes is changing the way we build today, and what is still yet to come in the future, really narrowing in on the need for labor and technology to come together.
This session will feature Ed Brady, president and CEO, Home Builders Institute. With roughly 30 years in the building industry, he has served as director of the Chicago Federal Home Loan Bank and has worked with leading experts to advance the nation’s housing policy. He has also served in the role as a senior officer with the National Assn. of Home Builders and as the 2016 chairman of the board of directors.
“The Technology Days event is shaping up to be one of our best events yet,” says Peggy Smedley, editorial director, Constructech magazine, and president of Specialty Publishing Media. “Geoff and Ed have insights that I believe will serve our audience well in a quest to understand the state of the market today and how technology factors in.”
