University of Southern California will assemble geospatial industry experts (Esri, Google, Northrop Grumman, Alteryx & more) as well as students from six Southern California universities and colleges to examine trends in Geospatial Science
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Los Angeles, CA) – John P. Wilson, Professor and Founding Director, USC Spatial Sciences Institute, and the Program Committee of the Los Angeles Geospatial Summit have announced the details of their hallmark annual conference:
The Annual Los Angeles Geospatial Summit will take place at the USC Radisson Hotel (3540 S. Figueroa Street, Los Angeles, CA 90007)
on Friday, February 22, 2019, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
“The USC Spatial Sciences Institute established the Los Angeles Geospatial Summit to be a community of practice connecting current leaders in the spatial sciences with the next generation of geospatial innovators, who are undergraduate and graduate students and alumni from the numerous Southern California different academic institutions which teach geography, geographic information science, spatial data science, and related disciplines. What distinguishes our Summit from other geospatial conferences is our mission to bring together a cross-cutting array of researchers, businesses, nonprofits, NGOs, and other entities from a wide range of disciplines and industries to analyze, model, and visualize location-based data,” said Wilson.
The Summit will kick off with a keynote from Manish Dasaur, Managing Director of Accenture Digital Analytics, with a talk titled Transforming Geospatial Data into Intelligent Enterprise: The Future is Now. Dasaur has been a leader in Accenture’s Digital practice, including authoring points of view, developing delivery capabilities, establishing relationships with technology partners and delivering strategic engagements across several industries. Following his keynote remarks, Dasaur will be joined on stage by Olivia Duane Adams, Chief Customer Officer, Alteryx, and Sean Boon, Principal Product manager, Visual Analytics, Tableau Software, for a discussion on the how geospatial data and visualization are at the core of business operations today.
The Summit will close with a panel discussion focused on Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Other Evolving Geospatial Technologies with participants from industry partners Google, Northrop Grumman, and Vricon. This team of scientists plan to discuss some of the latest advances and challenges in AI/ML as applied to geospatial data collection, analytics, and geovisualization.
“A new element in the 2019 Geospatial Summit program will be a series of ‘short burst’ industry presentations. In these short bursts, geospatial managers will share use case examples of how they use GIS in pioneering ways in their companies and practices,” said Susan Kamei, managing director of the USC Spatial Sciences Institute and chair of the Summit Program Committee.

Fees:
Early bird registration (ending January 22, 2019) is $85.
As of January 23, 2019, registration is $100.
Members of several professional organizations get a registration rate of $70 (see website for details).
Student registration is $50.
Registration includes a continental breakfast and lunch.
Parking:
Event self-parking rate at the USC Radisson Hotel is $12/day.
The USC Radisson Hotel is conveniently located near the Jefferson station and the Exposition Park station on the Metro Expo Line.
