Helping To Meet the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals

CRESWICK, Victoria, Jan. 10, 2019 — (PRNewswire) —

CRESWICK, Victoria, Jan. 10, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Sparx Systems has been accepted as a member of the UN-GGIM Private Sector Network (PSN) and will collaborate with the Land Administration and Management (LAM) Working Group.

The PSN facilitates collaboration between participants to develop, build and extend the world's capacity to benefit from geospatial information, enabling countries to build capacity in geospatial information, technologies and services.

Established on the 25th of September 2015, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is a plan of action for people, planet and prosperity. The 17 goals and 169 targets of the Agenda will stimulate action over the next fifteen years, in areas of critical importance for humanity and the planet.

Commenting on behalf of Sparx Systems, Head of Strategic Relations, Ken Harkin said, "We are honored to be invited to join the PSN and to contribute to its global policy capabilities, which develop the tools and services that enable geospatial information to be mainstreamed within and across countries.

Sparx Systems has long standing support for standards development with ISO TC/211, the International Hydrographic Organisation and the OGC, which combined with our support for the integration of UN administrative (LADM), statistical (CSPA) and geospatial (ISO TC/211) data, will provide a strong collaborative base, from which we can help meet the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals."

Commenting on behalf of the UN-GGIM Private Sector Network, Chairman Steven Hagan said, "We are pleased to have Sparx Systems contributing to the PSN WG Land Administration and Management (LAM), especially using the experience implementing the Land Administration Domain Model (LADM). We need active PSN members to reach our goals and to make a contribution to the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals."

Dieter Fritsch, PSN Vice Chairman and Head of the WG LAM said, "It will be a pleasure to have Sparx Systems on board and to further develop strategies on behalf of the geospatial industry providing concepts and programs in the important area of Land Administration and Management, especially needed in the underrepresented countries."

About the UN-GGIM Private Sector Network

Following endorsement by the UN-GGIM Committee of Experts, the UN-GGIM Private Sector Network (PSN) was established in 2016, to support the 2030 Agenda call for stronger public-private partnerships to harness new data sources.

The UN-GGIM PSN is an active group of representatives working in a mutually beneficial collaboration with the members of UN-GGIM to play a leading role in setting the agenda for the development of global geospatial information and to promote its use to address key global challenges, enable citizen services and support the initiatives of the United Nations, particularly the global development agenda.

The PSN facilitates an ongoing dialogue for collaboration between and among members of UN-GGIM and participants of the PSN to develop, build and extend the world's capacity to benefit from geospatial information, enabling countries to build capacity in geospatial information, technologies and services.

Recognizing the expertise of the private sector, the PSN will create opportunities for this expertise to assist UN-GGIM in developing policies, processes, practices, capacities and recommendations for geospatial information infrastructure at national, regional, and global levels.
