ALEXANDRIA, Va. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — April 4, 2018 — SGI Global, LLC (SGI) announced today that it was awarded a General Services Administration (GSA) Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) to provide instructors for police/law enforcement training to Government of Mexico (GOM) personnel throughout Mexico.
Under the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961, as amended, INL is charged with providing assistance to host governments to develop and implement effective law enforcement and counter narcotics programs. In Mexico, this assistance is provided under the auspices of the Merida Initiative, a joint U.S.-Mexico security agreement aimed at nationwide improvements to Mexico’s law enforcement and judicial system. Under this BPA, SGI will provide law enforcement instruction to GOM law enforcement officials at the Federal, state and local level. The objectives include: enhancing policing capabilities to earn the citizens’ trust, bolstering investigative techniques to lead to greater prosecution rates under Mexico’s new accusatorial criminal justice system, and strengthening Mexico’s borders.
Michael McManamon, Managing Partner, said, “This award demonstrates SGI’s proven reputation for supporting US Government sponsored law enforcement training programs across the globe. We are proud to support INL with this vital program in Mexico. So many brave men and women in Mexican law enforcement face incredible challenges on a daily basis, and this INL program will provide them the tools to accomplish their mission in support of rule of law efforts throughout Mexico.”
