ELK GROVE, Calif., Feb. 20, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Accellera Systems Initiative (Accellera) announced today that Richard Weber is the recipient of the seventh annual Accellera Technical Excellence Award. The award was established to recognize the outstanding achievements of an individual among Accellera’s working group members and their significant contributions to the development of its standards.
Mr. Weber will be presented the award at DVCon U.S. on Monday, February 26th during the Accellera Day luncheon from 12:00-1:30pm at the DoubleTree Hotel in San Jose, California. He will be recognized for his technical contributions in helping to drive register descriptions among multiple working groups including SystemRDL, IP-XACT and UVM.
“Richard has been a motivating force in helping to align register descriptions across different standards among multiple working groups within Accellera,” said Martin Barnasconi, Accellera Technical Committee Chair. “His achievements are extremely valuable, and he has been a key part of the evolution of SystemRDL, IP-XACT and UVM standardization. With Richard’s dedication, keen technical insight and leadership, register descriptions are now well aligned across these standards.”
“I am proud to receive this award from Accellera,” said Mr. Weber, CEO of Semifore, Inc. “I have been working closely on register descriptions with many of the working groups for more than a decade, and I am thrilled to see the efforts of the SystemRDL Working Group come to fruition with the availability of version 2.0. I have enjoyed collaborating with the various team members, and am honored to be recognized for the hard work of so many of our volunteers.”
Mr. Weber has been a member of Accellera for more than 10 years and has participated in multiple working groups. He has more than 30 years of experience in the high tech industry. He co-founded Semifore in 2006. He has worked on digital and ASIC design for Data General, Stardent, Silicon Graphics, StratumOne and Cisco Systems. His pioneering work at Cisco formed the basis of what became the SPIRIT/Accellera SystemRDL1.0 standard in 2009. Mr. Weber is a long-standing member of the Accellera IP-XACT Working Group, and at the invitation of Intel he is participating in the SystemRDL Working Group.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering and a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
