QuickLogic Announces New EOS S3 Voice Barge-in Feature

SUNNYVALE, CA -- (Marketwired) -- May 31, 2017 --

  • Supports common use-cases voice trigger when device playing music or ring-tone
  • Valuable for smartphone, Bluetooth headset and various other hearable devices
  • Enabled by Acoustic Echo Cancellation (AEC) technology

QuickLogic Corporation (NASDAQ: QUIK), a developer of ultra-low power programmable sensor processing, Embedded FPGA IP, display bridge and programmable logic solutions, today announced that its EOS™ S3 Sensor Processing SoC now supports a new barge-in feature which enables users to issue verbal commands to their smartphone, headset or other hearable end products when there is background sound such as music or ring tones playing.

This valuable new feature is enabled by Acoustic Echo Cancellation (AEC) technology, which has been tuned to maximize the system's speech recognition accuracy. It boosts the performance of the EOS S3 device's integrated Sensory TrulyHandsfree speech recognizer and the cloud-based speech recognition systems to which phrase words are sent.

"Our new voice barge-in feature provides users with a more dependable and natural voice interface experience," said Brian Faith, QuickLogic's president and CEO. "Now they can control their devices with commands such as "stop music" or "answer call" while music or a ring tone is playing on the device."

The EOS S3 Sensor Processing SoC is an ultra-low power, processing-efficient system which enables OEMs to extend battery life while designing in sophisticated, always-on sensing capabilities for mobile, wearable, and IoT devices. The EOS S3 employs not only fundamental, but also very sophisticated, always-on, context-aware sensing capabilities while staying well within the strict power budgets of smartphone, wearable, and IoT designs.

The EOS S3 voice barge-in feature is available now.
