Leading Gaming Companies and Competitions to Disrupt Immersive Experience at COMPUTEX 2017

CyberMods 24hrs international PC case modding competition and ZOTAC Cup Masters eSports competition join leading gaming exhibitors ASUS, GIGABYTE, G.SKILL, MSI and Thermaltake to highlight the gaming market’s momentum in the post-PC era

TAIPEI, Taiwan — (BUSINESS WIRE) — April 12, 2017 — The Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), one of the organizers of COMPUTEX 2017, in a press conference in Taipei yesterday announced that the show will add a Gaming & VR pavilion this year featuring A-list exhibitors ASUS, GIGABYTE, G.SKILL, MSI and Thermaltake. COMPUTEX 2017 will also host the CyberMods 24hrs international PC case modding competition, and the ZOTAC Cup Masters, an eSports competition, to highlight the gaming market’s emerging momentum in the post-PC era.

Jon Peddie Research (JPR) estimated that the PC gaming hardware market will be worth over US$30 billion by 2018. “As the PC market becomes saturated, the gaming industry’s emergence is triggering corporate transformation among high-tech companies. The gaming sector is playing the key role, connecting opportunities for suppliers of PC components and peripherals. COMPUTEX aims to use its global network of resources to enable a complete platform for interaction where vendors can come together to improve the gaming supply chain and build a technology ecosystem,” said TAITRA President Walter Yeh.

Gaming & VR is one of the five themes at COMPUTEX 2017, and nearly 60 gaming companies have signed up as exhibitors. Leading exhibitors were invited to the press conference yesterday in Taipei, where ASUS demonstrated its premium gaming products and GIGABYTE presented the company’s most innovative and reliable devices. Other highlights included overclocking memories and gaming peripherals of higher-than-standard specs from G.SKILL; a comprehensive portfolio of high-end gaming system products from MSI; and the industry’s first vertical tower chassis with glass panels and a liquid cooling system from Thermaltake. These ground-breaking achievements in the gaming ecosystem revealed COMPUTEX’s commitment to bringing the industry’s leading players together to expand the gaming market.

With the emergence of social media and live-streaming videos, gaming events are maturing. COMPUTEX 2017 will host CyberMods 24hrs at the Light Gallery of Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 1, where modders from Australia, the U.S., the U.K., Thailand, the Philippines and China will be given 24 hours to craft a unique build on themes such as science fiction, video games and movies. The ZOTAC Cup Masters will be held at Nangang Exhibition Hall and the MOBA Dota 2 finals will be live streamed, with a prize pool of US$100,000. The innovative products that vendors contribute for the competitions will help drive developments in the global gaming supply chain.

COMPUTEX 2017 will be held between May 30 and June 3 (the InnoVEX startup exhibit ends on June 1), featuring themes such as AI & Robotics, IoT Applications, Innovations & Startups, Business Solutions, and Gaming & VR.
