SINGAPORE — (BUSINESS WIRE) — March 28, 2017 — The growing billions of connected devices should be able to communicate with one another regardless of manufacturer, operating system, chipset or physical transport. The Open Connectivity Foundation (OCF), a leading Internet of Things standards body, is creating a specification and sponsoring an open source project ( IoTivity) to achieve that goal. Today, the OCF is announcing a collaboration with the Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association (SSIA) to promote the adoption of this specification to small and medium-sized enterprises and startups in the Singapore Smart Nation ecosystem and to help companies understand and adopt the specifications in their design strategies.
The Singapore IoT market is expected to be worth more than $700 million by the year 2020. The Smart Nation Program is Singapore's national effort to create a future of better living for all through tech-enabled solutions. With a program in place and the market poised for success, OCF’s specification will accelerate industry innovation to ensure secure interoperability for consumers, business, and industry. Singapore will be a step closer to its Smart Nation vision through smarter health, transport, living and service sector initiatives. SSIA will promote OCF down its value chain and enable SMEs to explore the applications and potential development of this new collaborative platform.
