Coordinate Metrology Society Conference Begins on July 25 in Murfreesboro, TN
Jun 27, 2016 -- The Coordinate Metrology Society (CMS) announced today the final schedule of events for its annual Coordinate Metrology Society Conference (CMSC) from July 25 - 29 at the Embassy Suites by Hilton, Murfreesboro, TN. The conference is world-renowned for original technical papers and presentations delivered by industry experts from around the globe. The CMS will kick off the conference with its traditional Icebreaker for all attendees and exhibitors on Monday night, July 25. This popular, social networking event is sponsored by Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence. Also scheduled for Monday is a special orientation for new conference attendees at 5:30pm. The PrecisionPath Consortium for Large Scale Manufacturing will hold a working meeting on Monday at the CMSC.
On Tuesday, July 26, the organization features Keynote Speaker Dr. Ed Morse of UNC Charlotte, followed by two rounds of the highly popular CMS Metrology Quiz competition. Afternoon workshops are also scheduled during the week covering Robot Calibration and GD&T. A Laser Tracker presentation will be held in the Measurement Zone sponsored by Metrologic. The CMS has also expanded the footprint of the Education Zone sponsored by Creaform. Both Zones offer challenging daily activities, including knowledge contests and hands-on competitions using portable metrology systems.
Technical papers and presentations are delivered by master metrologists throughout the day on Wednesday and Thursday. A Fun, Run and Walk Race starts the day on Wednesday, July 27 at 6am. More networking and educational events round out the CMSC Program Agenda. On Wednesday evening, a reception will be followed by the annual CMSC Banquet and a bus trip to downtown Nashville to enjoy the sights and sounds of Music City.
The CMS is offering an optional tour of the Nissan Smyrna Vehicle Assembly Plant on Friday morning, July 29. The plant opened on June 16, 1983 and continues to be the top-producing automotive plant in North America, producing 640,000 annually in the 5.9 million sq. ft. complex.
