May 31, 2016 (San Ramon, CA) – Cetrus, the leader in real-time desktop application use monitoring announced today at the ENR FutureTech Conference in San Francisco, CA, that Process Meter V3 (PM V3) is in production. Available immediately, PM V3 is a Software-as-a-Service subscription solution that uniquely monitors all standalone, license-server metered and cloud-licensed desktop application use in real-time. PM V3 fundamentally changes desktop application monitoring, incorporating bi-directional agent communications, and a modular plugin architecture allowing rapid enhancement, flexible deployment and lowered implementation and support costs.
Application Suites including Autodesk™ and Adobe™ are reported as individual applications. Sessions are reported as Active, Inactive/Idle or Timed Out, providing more detailed and accurate data than log-file based reporting solutions. PM V3 also records application use on or offline. An upcoming release will provide immediate visibility to denied license messages, identify which server released a license and compare licenses requested vs. released to let customers ensure the most advantageous licensing levels.
“Many of our customers are requesting assistance with license optimization planning for Autodesk and other applications. Our ability to access detailed use information will let us cost-effectively offer these services to those customers that don’t have the skills or resources for in-house analysis” says Dan Schulist, General Manager, CAD Solutions Group at MasterGraphics, a Platinum Autodesk Reseller.
Autodesk Platinum reseller CAD Technology Center intends to offer a compliance management service using Process Meter’s software inventory and use reporting. “CTC is excited to provide Process Meter to those customers looking for ways to better manage their software, and to mitigate compliance risks. Process Meter gives visibility to managing both standalone and network/license-server metered applications,” says Oliver Turan, CTC Director of Sales. “These insights enable customers to ensure compliance, and minimize the expense of over licensing.”
“We have been using Cetrus Process Meter for nearly five months and it has been fascinating to see what tools are being used by whom and how often,” says Robert Bendix, Design Technology Manager at MG2, a Seattle-based architecture firm. “With the use reports we’ve analyzed from just one of our software vendors, we can make a more informed decision about our upcoming license renewals. This will save us tens of thousands of dollars from that vendor alone over the next three years.”
Project-oriented firms can use Expense-2-Project™ (E2P) to associate use to projects for reimbursement or time tracking. E2P now supports association at the beginning or end of a session, assign individual window sessions to different projects, and supports use on shared servers and compute intensive applications.
“Process Meter provides amazing information,” says Uri Eliahu, President of ENGEO, an engineering firm of more than 250 professionals. “Before Process Meter, we had no idea how many concurrent users we actually had. We were able to reduce the number of licenses of several engineering applications. Expense-2-Project let us move software from project overhead to project use reimbursement. Our billing is now more accurate and the added revenue more than pays for our subscription fees.”
Cetrus intends to extend monitoring to the cloud. “Leading providers are moving applications to the cloud to lower application upgrade costs, support shared files and enable cross-team and project collaboration, such as for BIM,” says Erik Hoogerhuis, Cetrus’Vice President Sales and Marketing. “We intend to future-proof application use reporting by adding browser-based and external compute-intensive application monitoring.”
