Gaming at COMPUTEX 2016: More Than 30 Exhibitors and an HWBOT World Tour Overclocking Competition

Press Conference Previews Rich Gaming Ecosystem at COMPUTEX 2016

TAIPEI, Taiwan — (BUSINESS WIRE) — April 14, 2016COMPUTEX, the leading global ICT show with a complete supply chain, today provided a sneak peek into the gaming exhibitors, products and activities that will be part of COMPUTEX this year. In today’s press conference, gaming giants and COMPUTEX exhibitors Cooler Master, GIGABYTE, MSI, NVIDIA, and Thermaltake presented their insights on trends in gaming and eSports, and their latest gaming products including virtual reality (VR) devices. HWBOT, the world’s leading platform for competitive overclocking, held a warmup overclocking (OC) tournament as a preview of the HWBOT World Tour 2016 contest that will be the first official overclocking event at COMPUTEX.

Gaming, eSports and mobile research firm Newzoo forecasts that the worldwide gaming market will grow from $91.5 billion USD in 2015 to $113.3 billion by 2018 and the global eSports market from $325 million USD in 2015 to $1.1 billion by 2019. In response to this explosive worldwide growth, the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), the organizer of COMPUTEX, designated gaming and eSports as one of the show’s four main themes. More than 30 gaming brands will showcase their latest gaming products including PCs, tablets, memory devices, graphics processing units (GPUs), motherboards, keyboards, mice, consoles, headsets, computer cases, cooling fans and more at COMPUTEX this year.

“The gaming and eSports ecosystem at COMPUTEX will provide the most comprehensive global platform for gaming brands, gamers, and overclockers to build relationships, and view and test the latest gaming product innovations,” said TAITRA Executive Vice President Walter Yeh. “We are excited to capture at COMPUTEX the pulse of a dynamic and engaging industry whose market value has surpassed that of films and music combined.”

Overclocking is the act of configuring a device to run beyond its factory settings. The HWBOT World Tour stop at COMPUTEX will feature the HWBOT World Series overclocking contest where extreme overclockers compete for prizes and a chance to face the best of each of seven world tour stops during the OC World Championship final in Berlin, Germany at the end of the year. The contest at COMPUTEX will be broadcast live on Twitch, which draws more than 45 million gamers monthly to broadcast, view, and chat about gaming.

The HWBOT World Tour 2016 will also host a showcase at COMPUTEX on the fourth floor of the Taipei World Trade Center Nangang Exhibition Hall for overclockers to learn, share and compete, and for all to learn about overclocking, the OC community and the significance of overclocking to the PC enthusiast market.
